It is very important to understand the strategy and tactics of this game than any other poker game. Avoid the bigger games of $100-$200. They appear to be more lucrative than the other smaller games but if you are a newcomer, then avoid playing. While playing 7-stud, one skill that every player must have is memorizing and analyzing the cards that have been distributed. You can always relax a little if you have three of a kind. The higher the rank, the better it is for you.

In 7-card stud poker, it is better to progress slowly. And if you have a higher door card, then you may be expected to raise the bet. Otherwise, the other players might find something amiss and watch you carefully. On the other hand, if you have high sequences to bet on, it makes your job simpler.

• Always make a strong betting at the third and Fourth Street. Doing this eliminates more players. It is also beneficial to eliminate player during these streets.
• If higher cards are placed on the table like king and ace, and you have a queen, then it is suggested that you leave the bet at a single raise. You should not panic if while betting, you find that two aces or kings are on the table. This implies that the pair is broken and now you have nothing to worry about.
• If you have a higher card in hand like a king, queen or ace, and if your door card is ten or jack, then you are in the best possible situation. It will first appear that you are betting and raising on 10.
• In the sixth and the Seventh Street, there are chances of you getting beaten by open cards. If this does not happen, then you can raise a bet, but otherwise you should always fold.
